Hiking Trails

Zieleniec and its surroundings are a true paradise for mountain hikes and longer excursions. Using our resort as a base, you can explore dozens of kilometers of trails in the Orlickie, Bystrzyckie, and Stołowe Mountains. It’s worth noting that mountain tourism is possible here year-round, though appropriate caution for each season should always be observed. While this part of the Central Sudetes is not the highest, the same safety rules apply as in the taller Sudeten ranges.

Biking Trails

Biking Trails

Zieleniec’s location is one of its greatest advantages. Thanks to the terrain, outside the winter season it becomes one of the most important mountain biking centers in the Sudetes. Dozens of kilometers of trails along the ridges of the Orlickie Mountains (including the Czech side) and paths through the Bystrzyckie Mountains, with varying levels of difficulty, offer nearly limitless opportunities for cycling enthusiasts.

Moreover, Zieleniec and its surroundings are ideal not only for mountain biking but also for road cycling. However, due to numerous climbs, the routes are quite challenging. Sections such as the route to the Spalona shelter or the ride to Duszniki-Zdrój and back could easily serve as mountain stages in cycling tours.

Orlica Tower

Orlica Tower

By the end of November, a 25.5-meter-high observation tower with three viewing platforms at 8.75 m, 13.65 m, and 18.55 m will be built on Orlica in the forests of Nadleśnictwo Zdroje, State Forests. At the base of the tower, there will be a rest area for tourists with benches and tables. The tower will be accessible via hiking and biking trails.

The new tower will pay homage to the inn and wooden tower built by Heinrich Rübartsch around 1880, which were destroyed after the war. The Orlica tower is being constructed as part of the Polish-Czech project “Czech-Polish Ridge Trail – Eastern Section,” with the town of Duszniki-Zdrój as the beneficiary and the company CAKO from Polanica-Zdrój – Źródło Zdrowia as the contractor.

Zieleniec Peat Bog
7 km

Zieleniec Peat Bog

A natural monument unique not only in the region but throughout the country, the Zieleniec Peat Bog is a remarkable place and a botanical nature reserve that amazes visitors in every season. It is located just a 30-minute walk from the “center” of Zieleniec, accessible via an easy green-marked trail.
The peat bog lies on the western slope of Biesiec, in the heart of the mysterious Bystrzyckie Mountains. The peat depth reaches up to 8 meters. The bog was formed due to the specific underlying geology—impermeable rocks. Marl and sandstone layers deposited on gneiss, combined with the horizontal terrain, create a virtually water-retentive environment, making this area almost entirely without natural drainage.

Paper Museum

The paper mill in Duszniki is a technical monument. Distinctive features of the mill include a shingled roof ending in a Baroque volute gable on the west side and an original entrance pavilion shaped like a tower. Inside, the building houses polychrome decorations from the 17th–19th centuries. The site holds significant historical value in Poland and is also an interesting tourist attraction. On September 20, 2011, the Duszniki-Zdrój paper mill was granted the status of a historic monument by the President of Poland. Efforts are currently underway to have the historic mill included on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The Kłodzko Valley is crossed by the Nysa Kłodzka River, which originates in the Śnieżnik Massif. Its main left-bank tributaries are fast mountain streams: Bystrzyca (Łomnicka), Łomnica, Bystrzyca Dusznicka, Ścinawka, and Budzówka. On the right bank, the tributaries include Wilczka, Biała Lądecka, Biała Głuchołaska, Ścinawa Niemodlińska, and Potok Borkowicki.
At the Bardo Gorge, the Nysa Kłodzka is enriched by water from these tributaries, making it one of the best locations in Poland for rafting. When visiting Lower Silesia and the Kłodzko region, a rafting or kayaking trip through the Bardo Gorge comes highly recommended.
